A bantamweight division contest could be in the works for UFC 222 because the Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting that #7 Bryan Caraway faces Cody Stamann at the event.

Caraway (21-7-0) enters the bout on the strength of a two fight winning streak, defeating Eddie Wineland and Aljamain Sterling. Caraway hasn’t competed in almost two years, with his last bout coming at UFC Fight Night 88 in May of 2016. Caraway has only suffered two defeats under the UFC banner, with those losses coming against Raphael Assuncao and Takeya Mizugaki.

Stamann (16-1-0) has already earned two victories in UFC competition, with that last win coming over Tom Duquesnoy at UFC 216. Stamann has only suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came over three years to Lawrence DiGiulio at Warriors Xtreme Cagefighting 52. Stamann is also a former Triple X Cagefighting and Michiana Fight League Bantamweight Champion, but he never lost either of those titles through fights, but was instead stripped of them upon signing with the UFC.

UFC 222 takes place on Saturday, March 3 from the T-Mobile Arena with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
