Report: Cheick Kongo Signs New Multi-Fight Deal With Bellator MMA

MMA

Cheick Kongo has spent the last six-plus years competing in Bellator MMA and it looks like that tenure won?t be coming to an end anytime soon.

MMA Junkie is reporting that Kongo has signed a new multi-fight deal with the promotion, but the length of the contract and any financial numbers associated with the deal weren?t revealed at this time.

Kongo (30-10-2-1NC, 12-2-0-1NC Bellator MMA) has picked up notable wins in the promotion over Vitaly Minakov, Peter Graham, Lavar Johnson, Alexander Volkov, Vinicius Queiroz, Augusto Sakai, Javy Ayala and Timothy Johnson. Kongo has twice before challenged for the Bellator MMA Heavyweight Title, losing to the aforementioned Volkov in their first meeting at Bellator 115, while fighting Ryan Bader to a no contest at Bellator 226. Kongo hasn?t suffered a defeat in over five years, with that last defeat coming against King Mo at Bellator 134 in February of 2015. Kongo has picked up a total of thirty wins as a professional MMA fighter and have of them came by way of KO/TKO.

There is no word yet on when Kongo will return to the Bellator cage, as the promotion has canceled all upcoming events due to the coronavirus pandemic.
