This month’s UFC 253 card has taken a hit as Claudia Gadelha has suffered a knee injury and has been pulled from a bout against Yan Xiaonan.
Combate first reported the news, while saying Gadelha’s fate was determined during a recent trip to the UFC Performance Institute to have the injury examined. Xiaonan is expected to remain on the card at this time, as UFC officials are seeking a replacement opponent for her to fight.
Xiaonan (12-1-0-1NC) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, picking up wins over Kailin Curran, Viviane Pereira, Syuri Kondo, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Angela Hill. Xiaonan has competed five times thus far in the UFC and all of those encounters went to the judges scorecards. Xiaonan has picked up 12 wins as a professional MMA fighter and seven of them came by way of decision.
UFC 253 takes place on Saturday, September 26 from a location to be announced with Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
