A bantamweight division attraction has been added to a UFC card on June 6 as #5 Raphael Assuncao faces #9 Cody Garbrandt

MMA Fighting first reported the news, as the bout was originally set to happen last month at UFC Fight Night Columbus. The UFC already had a card scheduled for June 6 in UFC 251, which was set to happen in Australia, no word has been given yet if the event will remain UFC 251.

Assuncao (27-7-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, having dropped bouts to the duo of Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen. Assuncao hasn?t picked up a victory in over a year and that last win came over Rob Font at UFC 226 in July of 2018. Assuncao has suffered seven losses as a professional MMA fighter and four of them came by way of decision.

Garbrandt (11-3-0) comes into the contest riding a three fight losing streak, dropping bouts to TJ Dillashaw (twice) and Pedro Munhoz. Garbrandt is a former UFC Bantamweight Champion, defeating Dominick Cruz by unanimous decision at UFC 207 to win the gold. Garbrandt hasn?t earned a victory in over three years, with that last win coming at the aforementioned UFC 207 event in December of 2016.

The yet to be revealed UFC card is scheduled on Saturday, June 6 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
