Report: Corey Anderson Steps In At UFC Fight Night Hamburg

MMA

Glover Teixeira had no opponent for UFC Fight Night Hamburg after the withdraw of Ilir Latifi, but that’s no longer the case because a report from Combate is stating that Corey Anderson will step in on short notice.

Teixeira (27-6-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC bouts, with the latest fight being a victory over Misha Cirkunov at UFC On Fox 26. Teixeira has previously challenged for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, losing to then champion Jon Jones at UFC 172. Teixeira has suffered a total of six losses as a professional MMA fighter, but none of those defeats came by way of submission.

Anderson (10-4-0) has won just one of his last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Patrick Cummins at UFC Fight Night Atlantic City. Anderson was the light heavyweight winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 19, defeating Matt Van Buren in the finals. Anderson went winless in 2017, which marked the first time the fighter didn’t win at least once in a calendar year in his professional MMA career.

UFC Fight Night hamburg takes place on Sunday, July 22 from the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany with Anthony Smith and Mauricio Rua headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
