Daniel Cormier seems to be doubling-down on his retirement.
The former two-division UFC champion retired after suffering a unanimous decision loss to UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 252. DC is reportedly sticking to those retirement plans. Aaron Bronsteter of TSN reports that Cormier told UFC President Dana White that he is withdrawing from the USADA testing pool and wants to be removed from the UFC rankings:
Dana White told media tonight that Daniel Cormier notified him in person today that he'd like to withdraw from the USADA testing pool and be removed from the UFC rankings.— Aaron Bronsteter (@aaronbronsteter) September 2, 2020
Cormier, if he changes his mind and decides to fight again, would have to complete six months of USADA testing before fighting again. DC currently sits at no. 7 in the UFC pound for pound rankings and no. 3 in the UFC heavyweight division rankings.
