A heavyweight division attraction could be coming to the UFC 244 card according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #5 Derrick Lewis is going to be in action against #10 Blagoy Ivanov.
Lewis (21-7-0-1NC) is going to be competing for the first time since getting knee surgery, which came after a loss to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos at UFC Fight Night Wichita. Lewis has previously challenged for the UFC Heavyweight Title, losing to Daniel Cormier via second round submission at UFC 230. Lewis hasn’t picked up a win in almost a year, with that last victory coming over Alexander Volkov at UFC 229.
Ivanov (18-2-0-1NC) enters the contest on the strength of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Ben Rothwell and Tai Tuivasa. Ivanov is a former World Series Of Fighting Heavyweight Champion, defeating Smealinho Rama to win the gold at the WSOF 21. Ivanov has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter, with those defeats coming to the duo of Alexander Volkov and Junior Dos Santos.
