Rodriguez (7-1-0) is making his UFC debut in this encounter and does so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Rodriguez competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Episode 30, defeating Leomana Martinez by first round submission. Rodriguez has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to fellow UFC fighter Tony Gravely.

Zahabi (7-2-0) enters the contest riding a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Ricardo Ramos and Vince Morales. Zahabi hasn’t won a fight in nearly four years, with that last win coming over Reginaldo Vieira at UFC Fight Night 105 in February of 2017. Zahabi has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went the distance.

UFC Vegas 17 takes place on Saturday, December 19 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
