A welterweight war has been added to UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar as Dwight Grant faces Jared Gooden.
Line Movement first reported the bout, whose spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Grant (10-2-0) has won two of three fights under the UFC banner. Those wins come over Carlo Pedersoli Jr. and Alan Jouban. Grant is competing for the first time in over a year. His last appearance came at UFC 236 in April 2019. Grant also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 10, defeating Tyler Hill by second-round knockout.
Gooden (17-4-0) is making his UFC debut and does so on the strength of a three-fight winning streak. Gooden has been undefeated for over a year. His last loss came at the hands of future Contender Series competitor Bruno Oliveira at Titan FC 55. Gooden has competed in a rare six-round fight, a unanimous decision loss to Michael Graves at Titan FC 53.
UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar is set for Saturday, August 22 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pedro Munhoz and Frankie Edgar will lead the card. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event. The broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
