Report: Edmen Shahbazyan Faces Charles Byrd At UFC 235

A middleweight division attraction is the latest addition to UFC 235 according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal as Edmen Shahbazyan is going to be in action against Charles Byrd.

Shahbazyan (8-0-0) has already competed once under the UFC banner, defeating Darren Stewart by split decision at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale. Shahbazyan earned a contract with the UFC after competing on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 13, defeating Antonio Jones by first round TKO. Shahbazyan has competed eight times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of his bouts have gone past the opening round.

Byrd (10-5-0) has won just one of two those far in UFC competition, with that lone win coming over John Phillips at UFC Fight Night London. Byrd also earned a contract to the UFC while competing on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 6, defeating Randall Wallace by second round submission. Byrd had also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 1, defeating Jamie Pickett by first round submission.

UFC 235 takes place on Saturday, March 2 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Anthony Smith potentially headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
