A women’s strawweight division attraction has been added to UFC 248 as Emily Whitmire is in action against Polyana Viana.
Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Whitmire (4-3-0) has won two of four under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over Jamie Moyle and Aleksandra Albu. Whitmire also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26, making it to the quarterfinals before losing to Roxanne Modafferi. Whitmire has suffered three losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of submission.
Viana (10-4-0) enters the contest while riding a three fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the trio of JJ Aldrich, Hannah Cifers and Veronica Macedo. Viana hasn’t picked up a victory in nearly two years, with that last win coming over Maia Stevenson at UFC Fight Night Belem. Viana has picked up ten wins as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of KO/TKO or submission.
UFC 248 takes place on Saturday, March 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
