Report: Gerald Meerschaert Tests Positive For Covid-19, Off UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan

Tonight’s UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan card has taken another hit because Gerald Meerschaert has reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus and has been pulled from the event.

Ana Hissa of Combate first reported the news, while also stating that Meerschaert had tested negative for the coronavirus earlier this week.

Ed Herman, who was scheduled to face Meerschaert tonight, will most likely be pulled from the card as well due to the lack of time for UFC officials to find him a suitable opponent to fight. It is unknown yet as to whether one of the fights from the preliminary card will get bumped up to the main card to replace the canceled Meerschaert vs. Herman encounter.

There has been no comment at this time from either Meerschaert or the UFC as to Meerschaert’s alleged positive coronavirus test.

UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan takes place tonight from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Derek Brunson and Edmen Shahbazyan headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
