Karol Rosa has been pulled from UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo, replacing her against Julia Avila is Gina Mazany.
MMA Junkie first reported the news, but a reason for Rosa’s withdrawal is unknown at this time.
Avila (7-1-0) is also undefeated thus far in the UFC, defeating Pannie Kianzad by unanimous decision at UFC 239. Avila has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Marciea Allen at Invicta FC 29. Avila is a former HD MMA Women’s Bantamweight Champion, defeating fellow UFC fighter Nicco Montano to win the gold at HD MMA 7.
Mazany (6-3-0) is starting her second run with the UFC after going 1-3-0 during the initial run with the promotion. Mazany fought once since being released by the UFC, which was a first round submission win over Valerie Barney at King Of The Cage: Golden Fights. Mazany also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 18, losing in the opening round of the reality show to Julianna Pena.
UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo takes place on Saturday, June 13 from a location to be announced with Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
