A women?s flyweight division attraction between Jennifer Maia and Viviane Araujo, originally scheduled for UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker on June 27, has been moved to UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Aldana on August 1.
MMA Fighting first reported the news, while also stating that travel restrictions in Brazil as the reason for the schedule change.
Maia (17-6-1) has won two of four under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over the duo of Alexis Davis and Roxanne Modafferi. Maia has seen her last eight professional MMA bouts go the distance and it has been over four years since the fighter got a finish. Maia is a former Invicta FC Flyweight Champion, defeating Vanessa Porto at Invicta FC 16 to claim the gold.
Araujo (8-2-0) has won two of three in the UFC, with those wins coming over the two pack of Talita Bernardo and the aforementioned Davis. Araujo is making her first ?Fight Night? appearance, as all of the fighter?s previous bouts took place on pay-per-view cards. Araujo has picked up eight wins as a professional MMA fighter and half of them came by way of submission.
UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Aldana takes place on Saturday, August 1 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Holly Holm and Irene Aldana headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
