Report: Jessica Andrade Faces Karolina Kowalkiewicz At UFC 228

A huge women’s strawweight division encounter may be making its way to UFC 228 according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #2 Jessica Andrade faces #4 Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Andrade (18-6-0) will enter the bout on the strength of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Claudia Gadelha and Tecia Torres. Andrade has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title, suffering a defeat to then champion Joanna Jedzrejczyk by decision at UFC 211. Andrade has previously competed as a bantamweight in the UFC, earning a 4-3-0 record in that weight class.

Kowalkiewicz (12-2-0) also comes into the encounter riding a two fight winning streak, with her victories coming over Jodie Esquibel and Felice Herrig. Kowalkiewicz has also previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title, losing to then champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk by decision at UFC 205. Kowalkiewicz has seen all but one of her bouts in the UFC go the distance, with the lone fight that didn’t being a submission loss to Claudia Gadelha at UFC 212.
