A bantamweight division attraction has been added to UFC 252 as #12 John Dodson is in action against #15 Merab Dvalishvili.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Dodson (21-11-0) has won just two of his last five under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Pedro Munhoz and Nathaniel Wood. Dodson did win the UFC Ultimate Fighter 14, defeating former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw in the finals of the reality show. Dodson has also challenged twice before for the UFC Flyweight Title, losing both bouts to Demetrious Johnson at UFC On Fox 6 and UFC 191.
Dvalishvili (11-4-0) enters the contest riding a four fight winning streak, picking up wins over Terrion Ware, Brad Katona, Casey Kenney and Gustavo Lopez. Dvalishvili has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter, with three of them coming to a mix of UFC and Bellator MMA veterans. Dvalishvili has picked up eleven wins as a professional MMA fighter and eight of them came by way of decision.
UFC 252 takes place on Saturday, August 15 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
