Report: Jon Jones Enrolls In VADA Drug Testing

MMA

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson will battle for the soon to be vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Title in the main event of UFC 232.

The event was recently moved from Nevada to California after the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) found abnormalities in Jones’ drug test. Jones, in an apparent effort to prove he is a clean fighter, has enrolled in Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) drug testing ahead of UFC 232 according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

Jones had initially turned down the drug testing program in the lead up to the event, but enrollment in VADA was a requirement of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) for Jones to be able to compete at UFC 232. Jones also makes MMA history in a dubious manner, as he becomes the first UFC fighter to be tested by USADA and VADA at the same times. Jones has previously failed two drug tests, with those failures coming before UFC 200 and after UFC 214.

UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from The Forum in Inglewood, California with Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
