A women’s flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night: Orega vs. Jung as #1 Katlyn Chookagian faces #2 (Strawweight) Jessica Andrade.
MMA Junkie first reported the news, while also reporting that Jessica Eye, who was originally revealed to be fighting Andrade at the event, never finalized the bout due to the fighter battling some injuries.
Chookagian (14-3-0) has won three of her last four under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Joanne Calderwood, Jennifer Maia and Antonina Shevchenko. Chookagian has previously challenged for the UFC women’s flyweight title, suffering a third round TKO loss to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 247. Chookagian has competed 17 times as a professional MMA fighter and 13 of those encounters went the distance.
Andrade (20-8-0) is making her UFC Women’s Flyweight Division debut in this bout and does so on a two fight losing streak. Andrade is a former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion, defeating Rose Namajunas to win the gold at UFC 237. Andrade has now competed at three weight classes in the UFC, as she has now competed at strawweight, flyweight and bantamweight.
UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs. Jung is set for Saturday, November 17 from a location to be announced with Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
