Report: Manel Kape Injured, Off UFC 252

It looks like the UFC won’t have to find a replacement opponent to fight Manel Kape at UFC 252 because the former Rizin Bantamweight Champion is also off the card.

MMA Fighting first reported the news, citing an ankle injury as the reason that Kape has withdrawn from the UFC 252 card.

Kape was originally set to face Rogerio Bontorin on the card, but Bontorin withdrew from the event a few weeks back. Kape also told MMA Fighting that he expects to be ready to compete by October, but nothing is set in stone at this time.

There is also no word if the UFC will try to rebook Kape against Bontorin or if the fighters will go their separate ways.

UFC 252 takes place on Saturday, August 15 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
