Report: May 23 UFC Card Moved To May 30

MMA

Saturday, May 23 was the date for the reported UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs. Burns card, but that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.

A report from MMA Junkie says the date for the show has been changed, but no reason for the date change has been revealed at this time. There have been fights already reported for the show, including former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley vs. Gilbert Burns, Mackenzie Dern vs. Hannah Cifers and Jamahal Hill vs. Klidson Abreu.

The hope for the UFC was that the event would be run at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, but that would require approval from the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), which has been closed down for some time now due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak’s plan for reopening the state during the pandemic does include reopening the NAC as a part of phase one, but no time frame has been laid out yet for when phase one will begin.

There has been no comment from the UFC or a NAC representative as far as the change in date for the UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs. Burns card.
