A women’s strawweight division attraction between #8 Michelle Waterson and #13 Angela Hill, originally scheduled for UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar, has been moved to UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Teixeira.
BJPenn.com first reported the news, citing personal reasons on Waterson’s behalf as the reason for the date change.
Waterson (17-8-0) comes into the contest riding a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Carla Esparza. Waterson has seen her last six fights go the distance and it has been over three years since the fighter got a finish. Waterson is a former Invicta FC Atomweight Champion, defeating Jessica Penne at Invicta FC 5 to claim the gold.
Hill (12-8-0) has won three of her last four in the UFC, with those wins coming over Ariane Carnelossi, Hannah Cifers and Loma Lookboonmee. Hill is competing for the fourth time in 2020, tying it with 2019 as her most active year as a professional MMA fighter. Hill is a former Invicta FC Strawweight Champion, defeating Livinha Souza by split decision at Invicta FC 17 to win the gold.
UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Teixeira takes place on Saturday, September 12 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
