Report: NAC Gives Khabib Nurmagomedov Back $500,000 From UFC 229 Fine

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov scored a fourth round submission win over former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229.

A huge brawl would erupt after that bout when Nurmagomedov would hop the Octagon wall and go after McGregor’s team. That action would cause that Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) to fine Nurmagomedov half of his UFC 229 fight purse, which would amount to $1 million. McGregor, who was also involved in the brawl, wouldn’t get any fines related to his fight night purse.

Nurmagomedov apparently got some good news from the NAC because a report from MMA Junkie is stating that the commission sent the UFC Lightweight Champion a $500,000 check earlier this year. NAC spokesperson Jeff Mullen revealed the news, but a reason as to why Nurmagomedov was given $500,000 back wasn’t revealed at this time.

The UFC Lightweight Champion is back in action this Saturday Night at UFC 242, which is his first fight since the UFC 229 post-fight brawl.

UFC 242 takes place on Saturday, September 7 from The Arena at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
