Report: Ray Borg Released By The UFC

Ray Borg’s time with the UFC has come to a conclusion as the fighter was reportedly released by the promotion this past week.

MMA Fighting first reported the news, stating Borg’s multiple fight withdrawals as the reason for his departure.

UFC superstars who love soccer and their favourite clubs

Borg (13-5-0, 7-5-0 UFC) earned victories over Shane Howell, Chris Kelades, Geane Herrera, Louis Smolka, Jussier Formiga, Gabriel Silva and Rogerio Bontorin during his time with the UFC. Borg once challenged for the UFC flyweight championship, losing to Demetrious Johnson by fifth-round submission at UFC 216. Borg missed weight for four of his 12 UFC bouts — a staggering 33 percent.

Borg’s last official UFC fight occurred at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira. He suffered a split decision loss to Ricky Simon. Borg was not known as a prolific finisher during his UFC tenure, taking eight of 12 bouts to the scorecards.

There has been no comment at this time from either Borg, his reps or the UFC.
