Taila Santos has suffered a wrist injury and has been pulled from the UFC Fight Night Uruguay card, where she was supposed to battle Ariane Carnelossi.
MMA Fighting first reported the news, but the report didn’t state the amount of time the injury will keep Santos out of action for. Carnelossi is expected to remain on the UFC Fight Night Uruguay card at this time, as UFC officials are seeking a replacement for her to face.
Carnelossi (12-1-0) is going to be making her UFC debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a twelve fight winning streak. Carnelossi has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came against UFC veteran Amanda Ribas at Pentagon Combat 20 in September of 2014. Carnelossi has picked up a total of twelve victories as a professional MMA fighter and eight of those wins have come by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night Uruguay takes place on Saturday, August 10 from the Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay with Valentina Shevchenko and Liz Carmouche headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which is going to be streaming live on ESPN+.
