Report: Trio Of Bouts Added To UFC Fight Night Fortaleza, Thiago Alves In Action

A trio of bouts have been added to UFC Fight Night Fortaleza according to Marcelo Barone of Combate as Mara Romero Borella faces Taila Santos, Max Griffin faces Thiago Alves and Magomed Bibulatov faces Rogerio Bontorin.

Borella (11-5-0-2NC) has won just one of two under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Kalindra Faria at UFC 216. Borella will also compete for the first time in over a year when the event happens, with her last bout happening in January of 2018.

Santos (15-0-0) is going to be making her UFC debut in this bout and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted over five years. Santos also competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil Episode 2, defeating Estefani Almeida by unanimous decision.

Griffin (14-5-0) has rotated wins and losses throughout his UFC run, with the latest fight being a loss to Curtis Millender at UFC 226. Griffin has seen his last three bouts go the distance and it has been over two years since the fighter got a finish.

Alves (22-13-0) has won just one of his last five in UFC competition and that lone win came over Patrick Cote at UFC 210. Alves has previously challenged for the UFC Welterweight Title, losing to then champion Georges St. Pierre by decision at UFC 100.

Bibulatov (14-1-0) has won just one of two in the UFC, with that single win coming over Jenel Lausa at UFC 210. Bibulatov was the first and only World Series Of Fighting Flyweight Champion, defeating Donavon Frelow to win the gold at the WSOF 24.

Bontorin (14-1-0-1NC) is making his UFC debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Bontorin competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil Episode 1, defeating Gustavo Gabriel Silva by second round submission.

UFC Fight Night Fortaleza takes place on Saturday, February 2 from a location to be announced in Fortaleza, Brazil with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
