Earlier this month, MMA fans were treated to the UFC 235 pay-per-view, which was headlined by UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones successfully defending the gold against Anthony Smith.
MMA Fighting is reporting that the five fight pay-per-view card brought in around 520,000 to 650,000 buys. It should be noted that the UFC isn?t a publicly traded company, so they do not have to release their pay-per-view buy rate to the general public.
Other fights on the pay-per-view card saw Kamaru Usman defeat Tyron Woodley to win the UFC Welterweight Title, Ben Askren defeat Robbie Lawler, Weili Zhang defeat Tecia Torres and Pedro Munhoz defeat Cody Garbrandt.
The four fight preliminary card that aired live on ESPN brought in a strong rating as well, plus Google searches for various terms surrounding the event were high as well before, during and after the card. This was also the first UFC pay-per-view of 2019 to have a title fight in the main event, as UFC 234 featured Israel Adesanya defeating Anderson Silva in a non-title affair.
The UFC is set to return to pay-per-view this coming April with UFC 236, which features UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway facing Dustin Poirier for the vacant interim lightweight championship in the main event.
