Report: UFC Working On Junior Dos Santos vs. Ciryl Gane, Possibly In December

A heavyweight division fight could be coming our way later this year between #7 Junior Dos Santos and #13 Ciryl Gane.

UFC President Dana White revealed the promotion’s plans during a recent media scrum (via MMA Fighting).

Dos Santos (21-8-0) enters the potential contest riding a three-fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the trio of Francis Ngannou, Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Dos Santos hasn’t picked up a win in almost two years with that last victory coming over Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night Wichita. Dos Santos is a former UFC heavyweight champion, defeating Cain Velasquez at UFC On Fox 1 to win the gold.

Gane (6-0-0) has already picked up three wins in the UFC with those victories coming over Raphael Pessoa, Don’Tale Mayes and Tanner Boser. Gane would be competing for the first time in about a year, as his last fight took place in December of 2019. Gane has competed six times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those bouts went the distance.

The UFC currently has three events lined up for December, so there are plenty of places for Dos Santos versus Gane to happen at.
