Walt Harris is fighting Alexander Volkov later this month at UFC 254, but that bout was nearly in jeopardy after Harris and some unnamed teammates tested positive for COVID-19 last month.
James Lynch first reported the news, while also revealing that the positive COVID-19 test won’t affect the bout against Volkov at UFC 254. The teammates of Harris’ that tested positive for COVID-19 hasn’t been revealed at this time. Harris and his team, plus Volkov and his team will all be tested multiple times and will have to pass those tests in order to both be allowed on Fight Island and to compete later this month at UFC 254.
UFC 254 takes place on Saturday, October 24 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which is streaming live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
