Report: Yordenis Ugas vs. Omar Figueroa Added To Pacquiao vs. Thurman

Yordenis Ugas and Omar Figueroa Jr. will engage in a welterweight title eliminator this summer.

According to a report from Boxing Scene, Ugas and Figueroa will face off on July 20 on the pay-per-view card headlined by Manny Pacquiao vs. Keith Thurman. The fight has not been officially announced, but Ugas spoke about the report on Twitter, seemingly confirming the news.

According to Michael Benson on Twitter, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, who is in attendance to watch the heavyweight title fight between Deontay Wilder and Dominic Breazeale, told reporters that the fight will be a title eliminator for the WBC champion.

Ugas unsuccessfully challenged for the WBC welterweight title back in March when he faced Shawn Porter in the main event of a Fox-televised card from California. Ugas lost the fight by split decision, which snapped his eight-fight win streak.

Figueroa is an unbeaten boxer who once held the WBC lightweight world title several years back. Figueroa has only fought twice since the start of the second half of 2017 and is coming off a 10-round decision win against John Molina Jr. back in February.

The pay-per-view will be headlined by Pacquiao vs. Thurman for the WBA welterweight title. Also on the card is an IBF super middleweight title fight between Caleb Plant and Mike Lee.
