Max Holloway vs Calvin Kattar

Round One: After introductions from Bruce Buffer, final instructions from referee Herb Dean and a touch of the gloves, the main event of UFC Fight Island 7 is underway. Holloway immediately pushes the pace but is met with a nice lead leg kick from Kattar. Holloway brings the heat right away with a combo to the body of Kattar that sends him to the fence and finishes the combo with a heavy right hook. Kattar is noticeably wobbled but sends a right hook to the body of Holloway and follows it up with a lead leg kick. The former featherweight champ drills Kattar with another right hook and it bloodies Kattar's face and Holloway is starting to find his rhythm. Kattar fends off the barrage from Holloway with a pair of leg kicks but Holloway lands another combo that ends with a right hook to end the round.

Round Two: The second round is underway and Holloway continues to push the pace and lands a pair of left jabs on Kattar. The Boston-born contender lands a pair of leg kicks to Holloway's lead leg and the pair trade heavy right hooks. Kattar starts to turn up the heat with a straight right hook but Holloway counters with a vicious combo and trips up Kattar in the process. Holloway drills Kattar with a right hook to the body and blasts Kattar with a right hook that backs Kattar up to the fence and Holloway is trying to end the fight with a barrage of body shots but Kattar stings Holloway with an elbow that temporarily backs up Holloway. The "Blessed" one isn't deterred and drills Kattar with another heavy right hook that sends Kattar to the fence but Katter is saved by the bell and this one is somehow heading to the third round.

Round Three: We're somehow in the third round and Holloway continues to push forward. Holloway lands another combo that stings Kattar and Kattar initiates the clinch and pushes Holloway back. Kattar drills Holloway with a right hook that stops the Hawaiian in his tracks and follows it up with another that stings the former champion. Holloway comes right back forward and stops Kattar's momentum with a nasty left uppercut and follows it up with a right hook. Kattar is somehow still in this one and drills Holloway with a right hook and goes for a takedown but the attempt is stuffed by Holloway. Kattar lands a left jab on Holloway and narrowly gets out of the way of a straight kick to the body. Holloway continues the assault to the body and again gets Kattar against the cage but Kattar lands a heavy right hook to end the round.

Round Four: We've somehow reached main event rounds in this one and the fourth round is underway. Holloway continues to attack the body of Kattar and lands a heavy left jab that again sends Kattar to the fence. A heavy left hook to the body slows Kattar down significantly and Holloway throws about 50 punches to the body and head of Kattar but Kattar is somehow throwing elbows back in Holloway's direction. Holloway seems a bit gassed out and the attack is temporarily slowed down but he goes right back on the attack and lands a nasty right elbow and attempts a takedown but Kattar stuffs it and finally gets off the fence and throws a right hook that lands on Holloway. Kattar snaps Holloway's head back with a heavy right hand and both men are now covered in blood. Holloway lands a right head kick but Kattar walks through and sends a right hook right in Max's face as the round comes to a close.

Round Five: The fifth and final round is somehow here and this one has five minutes left to find out a winner. It appears that Kattar needs a finish to steal the victory. Holloway for the fifth-straight round pushes straight forward and continues the attack with a pair of left jabs to Kattar. A straight right kick from Kattar lands on Holloway's body but Kattar then eats a heavy right hand from Holloway. Kattar now pushes forward and lands a lead leg kick and Holloway returns the favor then hits a spinning back kick to Kattar's body. Holloway lands a nasty right hook on Kattar and then does the matrix to avoid a counter hook from Kattar. Holloway's very verbal during the final minute, seemingly yelling at UFC President Dana White, who's seated in the crowd. Kattar misses a final second Hail Mary right head kick and this one is over. What a fight. Credit to Kattar for somehow getting to a decision and Holloway has looked as good as he ever has.

Result - Max Holloway def. Calvin Kattar via unanimous decision (50-43, 50-43, 50-42)

Carlos Condit vs. Matt Brown

Round One: The co-main event between these two octagon legends is officially underway. Brown goes right after Condit and lands a pair of leg kicks to Condit's lead leg. Condit returns the favor with a pair of leg kicks but Brown catches one and lands a takedown on "The Natural Born Killer". Brown is sporting a cut on his face from an apparent headbutt but it isn't slowing down the ground and pound attack. Condit lands a few up kicks to the midsection of Brown but eats a hammer fist for his troubles. Condit gets back to his feet and trips up Browb and lands a few shots of ground and pound as the round comes to a close.

Round Two: The second round begins with Brown landing a front kick to the body of Condit and follows it up with a counter right after a missed left hook by Condit. Brown trips up Condit with a heavy leg kick but Brown allows Condit to get back to his feet. Brown initiates the clinch after eating a left straight/right hook combo from Condit but Condit bursts onto Brown and sweeps Brown to the mat and gains top control. The former interim welterweight champion lands some heavy ground and pound onto Brown and ends the round with a left elbow thay bloodies up an already busted up Brown.

Round Three: The final frame begins and Brown initiates the clinch and trips up Condit but Condit jumps onto Brown's back and drags Brown to the mat. Condit teases a Kimura attempt but thinks better of it and turns Brown onto his back and goes for top control. Condit gets to Browns side and tries to lock-in a rear-naked choke but Brown slips out and gets back to his feet. Brown then throws Condit to the mat and takes top control himself. Condit keeps attempting a triangle-choke from the bottom but Brown pushes himself out of danger and gets back to the feet but then quickly dumps Condit back to the mat after Condit drilled Brown with an elbow and the round ends with Brown in top control.

Result - Carlos Condit def. Matt Brown via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Jinliang Li

Round One: The two-year hiatus of then surging welteweight contender Santiago Ponzinibbio is officially over and this one is underway after a touch of the gloves from he and Jingliang. Ponzinibbio puts the pressure on early and Jingliang tries to slow him down with a pair of leg kicks. Ponzinibbio lands a nice left hook before eating another pair of leg kicks from Jingliang. Ponzinibbio's lead leg is starting to get chewed up by Jingliang and they both go for a left straight and only Jingliang's lands and it sends Ponzinibbio's unconcious body to the canvas and this one is over. Three straight first-round knockouts to start the main card.

Result - Li Jingliang def. Santiago Ponzinibbio via KO (4:25, R1)

Joaquin Buckley vs. Alessio Di Chirico

Round One: This one gets underway after a touch of the gloves. Buckley pushes directly forward and narrowly misses a left hook but gets Chirico to back up to the fence. Chirico just misses a right head kick and Buckley makes him pay with a side kick to the body. Buckley ducks and goes for a left uppercut but Chirico catches him with a right kick to the head that puts Buckley out cold and we have an early contender for upset of the year.

Result - Alessio Di Chirico def. Joaquin Buckley via KO (2:12, R1)

Punahele Soriano vs. Dusko Todorovic

Round One: The legendary Bruce Buffer introduces the two fighters, the bell rings and the first UFC card on ABC is officially underway. Both men rush the center of the octagon and Soriano fakes a takedown before narrowly getting out of the way of an uppercut from Todorovic. Soriano trips up Todorovic but the latter is able to get back to his feet ans avoids further trouble. Soriano drills Todorovic with a left hand to the body, Todorovic lands a hook of his own but Soriano blasts Todorovic with a left hook that sends him to the canvas but somehow Todorovic is able to avoid any ground and pound. Soriano keeps the pressure up and drills Todorovic with yet another left that sends Todorovic down but he's again able to avoid further damage but the fight is temporarily stopped by referee Herb Dean when Todorovic's mouthpiece gets stuck in the cage. After the mouthpiece is retrieved, the fight reumes and Soriano goes right back on the offensive and ends the fight with yet another straight left and Herb Dean has seen enough and waves this one off.
