Robert Whittaker Believes He’d Give Jon Jones A Run For His Money

UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker and UFC Interim Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya are expected to collide in a title unification bout later this year.

Jon Jones is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and Whittaker believes that he’d give Jones a run for the fighter’s money.

“Yeah man, why not?” Whittaker said to Submission Radio (via Jed Meshew of MMA Fighting). “I think I could just give him a run for his money. I surprise a lot of people and I’m full of tricks. I think the intensity I bring into a fight is something that a lot of people aren’t prepared for. But he’s a great fighter, he’s super, super dangerous. I’m under no illusion how hard it would be, and yeah, I think it would be fun.”

Adesanya is currently involved in a feud with the fighter that Whittaker wants to face, with Adesanya saying he is hunting the G.O.A.T. in Jones.

Whittaker believes that of Jones and Adesanya were to battle, it would be a victorious night for Jones.

“I think Jon Jones would kill him [laughs],” Whittaker said. “Yeah, I think it’s silly, but then Israel just kind of take jabs and bites out of everyone, doesn’t he? Yeah, he’s got a big mouth.”

If the potential bout between Whittaker and Jones were to come together, it would most likely be taking place at light heavyweight.
