Santiago Ponzinibbio Says Rafael Dos Anjos Running From Potential Fight

MMA

Santiago Ponzinibbio has challenged former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos to a fight multiple times now.

It would seem like a potential bout between the two may not come together, especially since Ponzinibbio claims that RDA is running from him.

”I truly believe the fight will happen,” Ponzinibbio told MMA Fighting. “The only way it doesn’t happen is if he turns it down. He’s saying on Twitter that he’s in, but the contract never comes. He says that on Twitter, but the truth is he doesn’t want to fight me. He’s scared. It makes me want to beat him up even more because he says he’s in, but then turns it down to the matchmakers. He’s running from the fight. He’s scared. That pisses me off because he says something, but acts differently.”

Ponzinibbio was last seen in action in the main event of UFC Fight Night Buenos Aires, while Dos Anjos last competed at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale.

The top ranked welterweight says that Dos Anjos fighting anybody would prove that the former champion is scared of him.

”Let’s see if he really wants to fight me or if he’s just talk,” Ponzinibbio said. “If he agrees to another fight, it’s pretty clear he’s scared to fight me.”

If the bout were to come together, it would pit two top ten fighters against each other, as Dos Anjos is ranked #5 and Ponzinibbio sits at #7.
