Shane Carwin technically had a successful return to fighting this weekend.
Carwin took on journeyman Jason Ellis at EllisMania 13, with the stipulation that Carwin would only be able to use one arm. That's all the former interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Carwin needed, as he brutally knocked out Ellis.
Carwin recently announced his intent to return to MMA earlier this year, but said that he and the UFC weren't able to come to terms. Carwin said that he'll be taking his talents elsewhere in the MMA world.
Ellis is a professional skateboarder and radio host with a 1-0 pro MMA record, and also has a few fights under his belt. He's appeared on CKY videos, Ultimate X: The Movie, Viva La Bam, and Paul Blart Mall Cop, among other things.
