Shawn Porter vs. Yordenis Ugas Taking Place In Carson, California

The WBC welterweight title fight between Shawn Porter and Yordenis Ugas is still happening in March, but there has been a change in location.

PBC announced that the title bout, set to headline a Fox-televised card is now taking place at Dignity Health Sports Park, formerly StubHub Center, in Carson, California on March 9. The fight was originally supposed to take place in Las Vegas when the fight was first announced at a media event hosted by PBC.

This will be Porter's first title defense since winning the belt with a narrow decision win over Danny Garcia in September. The two fought for the title previously held by Keith Thurman in the main event of a boxing card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Ugas became the mandatory challenger to the title when he defeat Cesar Barrionuevo on the undercard of that September show in Brooklyn. Since taking a break from the sport from 2014 to 2016, Ugas won eight straight fights, ascending through the welterweight rankings and getting the title shot against Porter, his first world title challenge.

The televised undercard was also announced with the co-main event being a cruiserweight matchup between Andrzej Fonfara and Edwin Rodriguez. Fonfara, a two-time world title challenger at 175 pounds, is coming off a win over Ismayl Sillah in Fonfara's second consecutive fight at 200 pounds.

In the television opener, heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba vs. Amir Mansour. This will be Ajagba's first fight scheduled for eight rounds. Ajagba is 8-0 as a professional boxer, winning all five of his fights, all first-round victories in 2018.
