Stipe Miocic Not Excited For Rematch With Francis Ngannou, Predicts Same Result As First Fight

Stipe Miocic is not particularly eager for the Francis Ngannou rematch.

UFC heavyweight champion Miocic is expected to defend the title next against Francis Ngannou, which is a rematch from UFC 220, which Miocic won by unanimous decision.

Miocic recently participated in a fan Q&A on Instagram, where the champion confirmed he isn’t excited to fight Ngannou again (via Jed Meshew of MMA Fighting):

“Francis isn’t exciting to me, already put on a 25 minute clinic on how to beat him. Want a new challenge! Would love to box.”

Ngannou has won four of five since the first meeting with Miocic, with those wins coming over Cain Velasquez, Curtis Blaydes, Junior Dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

The champion believes the rematch between himself and Ngannou will play out the exact same way the first bout did.

“He’s definitely worked his way back up, but if we do fight again, it doesn’t matter,” Miocic told ESPN. “The same thing is gonna happen. Same result. There’s no difference that’s gonna happen. I’m gonna win and dominate.”

There is no word yet as to when the rematch will go down, as Miocic just competed at UFC 252, while Ngannou last competed at UFC 249.
