Stipe Miocic Out Of Action For Rest Of 2019 Due to Eye Injury

Stipe Miocic became a two time UFC Heavyweight Champion at UFC 241 when he defeated Daniel Cormier by fourth round TKO to capture the gold.

However, fans expecting to see a title defense before the year ends are going to be disappointed because an eye injury will keep Miocic out of action.

"Mr. Miocic sustained a major retina injury from multiple eye pokes during his bout at UFC 241," said Jim Walter (Miocic’s agent) to ESPN. "Our client's health and safety is our top priority. We are excited for him to return to action when he is healthy to compete in his seventh consecutive world title fight.”

The injury suffered by Miocic was happened against Cormier at UFC 241 after DC accidentally poked him in the eye during their bout.

Miocic, in a separate statement to ESPN, says that he cannot wait to defend the UFC Heavyweight Title.

"I'll be ready to fight when I can see out of both eyes again," Miocic said. "I can't wait to defend my belt.”

DC said that he would like to have a third bout with Miocic and that fight would serve as his final one as a professional MMA fighter.
