Stipe Miocic’s Father Is Cancer Free

UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic regained the championship last weekend at UFC 241, defeating Daniel Cormier by fourth round knockout.

The celebration for Miocic would continue for Miocic after the event, but for a reason not related to the heavyweight strap.

That’s because Miocic would learn after the bout that his father had been cleared of cancer, which was captured on The Thrill & The Agony sneak peek for UFC 241, which you can view below:

“I’m so happy for you, dad. I got this belt, this is for you OK,” Miocic said in the video (via MMA Fighting). “My dad just got cleared of cancer, by the way, today. How awesome is that right? He acted like it was no big thing. He’s like ‘oh I’m clear’.”

Miocic’s father wasn’t at the event, which was held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

There is no word at this time as to what is next for the newly crowned UFC Heavyweight Champion, as UFC President Dana White recently hinted at a potential rubber match with Cormier.
