Thiago Santos and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones headlined UFC 239, with Jones retaining the championship via split decision.
Santos not only became the first fighter to take Jones to a split decision, but did so while competing on two serious injured knees, which were compromised throughout the twenty five minute encounter.
The fighter did undergo surgery to repair both knees this past Wednesday and according to the fighter, everything was a success.
A recovering Santos would post the following on Twitter:
Although no timetable has been revealed for the fighter’s return, past estimates suggested that Santos could be back in action by the middle of next year. Santos had surgery done on his right knee before UFC 239, but re-aggravated past injuries while competing against Jones.
