MMA fighter and former Titan FC veteran Phillip Keller has been arrested and charged with murdering his fiancee, 35-year-old Alicia Campitelli in Merrit Island, Florida last weekend.
The news of the incident and Keller's subsequent arrest was first reported by Florida Today's J.D. Gallop and Tyler Vazquez. Brevard County Sheriff deputies responded to reports of a shooting on Saturday, May 15 after Keller called 911 reporting Campitelli's death and that someone may have broken into her apartment. After they arrived on the scene the deputies' focus shifted to Keller who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound, and they found surveillance video that showed Keller making financial transactions using Campitelli's account information after the gunshots were heard.
Detectives also have recorded phone calls of Keller admitting to an acquaintance that he killed Campitelli saying the following.
"I killed her bro. I killed her high as [expletive]. I did it. I don't know how I did it but I can't live with myself knowing that," Keller was recorded saying, detectives said. "I did it. I'm so [expletive] sorry man."
He also told the acquaintance where he disposed of the gun he used to murder Campitelli with and that he was on MDMA, better known as ecstasy during the time of the incident. He was arrested last Thursday and charged with first-degree premeditated murder and is being held without bond. Keller went 2-6 in his career as a professional fighter and had multiple appearances with the Titan FC promotion, losing all three of his fights there.
