A flyweight division attraction is the latest addition to the UFC 219 card as #14 Louis Smolka looks for the win against Matheus Nicolau.
Smolka (11-4-0) enters the fight while riding a three fight losing streak, dropping fights to Brandon Moreno, Ray Borg and Tim Elliot. Smolka hasn’t won a bout in well over a year, with his last victory coming over Ben Nguyen at UFC Fight Night 91. Smolka has also seen his last two fights go the distance and it has been over a year since one of his bouts ended with a finish.
Nicolau (12-1-1) is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, holding victories over the duo of Bruno Rodrigues Mesquita and John Moraga. Nicolau hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost five years, with his last loss coming to UFC veteran Pedro Nobre at Bitetti Combat 13. Nicolau also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil 4, but lost to Dileno Lopes in the semi-finals of the reality show.
UFc 219 takes place on Saturday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
