A women’s strawweight division fight is the latest addition to the forthcoming UFC Fight Night 113 card as #7 Joanne Calderwood faces #15 Cynthia Calvillo.
Calderwood (11-2-0) has won three of five in the UFC thus far, those victories have come over the trio of Seo Hee Ham, Cortney Casey and Valerie Letourneau. Calderwood also competed in the first ever female flyweight division fight in the UFC, defeating the aforementioned Valerie Letourneau at UFC Fight Night 89. Calderwood also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20, losing to eventual finalist Rose Namajunas in the quarterfinals of the reality show.
Calvillo (5-0-0) has already won two fights under the UFC banner, those victories both came by submission over Amanda Bobby Cooper and Pearl Gonzalez. Calvillo also competed in the first ever Legacy Fighting Alliance event, defeating Montana Stewart by third round TKO. Calvillo also won five of six as an amateur MMA fighter, including one win over recently signed UFC fighter Aspen Ladd.
Calderwood noted that she'd have preferred competing in the new Flyweight division, but committed to this bout.
UFC Fight Night 113 takes place on Sunday, July 16 from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland with Gunnar Nelson and Santiago Ponzinibbio headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
