A pair of top five female strawweights are going to be in action at UFC Fight Night: Japan as #1 Claudia Gadelha faces off with #4 Jessica Andrade.
Gadelha (15-2-0) has only suffered two defeats as a professional MMA fighter, with both of those losses coming against UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Gadelha does enter this fight on a two fight winning streak, defeating Cortney Casey and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Gadelha also competed once in the Invicta FC promotion, defeating Ayaka Hamasaki by third round TKO at Invicta FC 6.
Andrade (16-6-0) is competing for the first time since losing a women’s strawweight title fight to Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 211. Andrade has competed as both a bantamweight and strawweight in the UFC, winning four fights at bantamweight and three fights at strawweight. Andrade is going t be competing in Brazil for the first time in well over two years, as her last appearance in the country came at UFC Fight Night 61 in February 2015.
