Top-5 Fight Added To UFC 208

A light heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 208 as #3-ranked Glover Teixeira does battle against #5-ranked Jimi Manuwa. FloCombat first broke the story.

Teixeira (25-5-0) has won three of his last four fights under the UFC banner, defeating Ovince St. Preux, Patrick Cummings and Rashad Evans,, while suffering a defeat to Anthony Johnson. Teixeira has previously challenged for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, losing to then-champion Jon Jones at UFC 172 in 2014. Teixeira hasn’t won a fight on a UFC pay-per-view in well over three years, with his last pay-per-view win coming over James Te Huna at UFC 160 in September 2013.

Manuwa (16-2-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC appearances, with his last fight being a victory over Ovince St. Preux at UFC 204. Manuwa holds the UFC record for most wins via injury or fighter retirement due to injury with three, those wins came over Kyle Kingsbury (doctor stoppage), Cyrille Diabate (retirement) and Ryan Jimmo (injury). Manuwa has only seen one of his seven fights in the UFC go to a decision, that fight was a unanimous decision win over Jan Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night 64.

UFC 208 takes place on Saturday, January 21 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with no main event announced at this time.
