Top 5 Flyweight Added To UFC Fight Night: Japan

A flyweight division attraction is the latest addition to the UFC Fight Night: Japan card as #5 Jussier Formiga is in action against Ulka Sasaki.

Formiga (19-5-0) has won four of his last six under the UFC banner, with those four wins coming over Scott Jorgensen, Zach Makovsky, Wilson Reis and Dustin Ortiz. Formiga is going to be competing in his eighth straight “Fight Night” event. Formiga competed in the four man tournament to crown the first UFC Flyweight Champion, losing to Joseph Benavidez in the first round.

Sasaki (20-4-2) has won two of his last three fights in the UFC, with those two wins coming over the duo of Willie Gates and Justin Scoggins. Sasaki is going to be competing in Japan for the first time in over three years, as his last appearance in the country came at Deep: Fujisan Matsuri in May 2014. Sasaki is also going to be competing for the third time this year, which is the most active the fighter has been since 2014.

UFC Fight Night: Japan takes place on Friday, September 22 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan with Mauricio Rua and Ovince St. Preux headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
