Tyson Fury To Make In-Ring Return On June 9 In Manchester

After two-and-a-half years since he won the unified heavyweight championship, Tyson Fury is ready to make a return to the ring.

In a press conference, it was announced that Fury has signed with promoter Frank Warren and that his first fight back will take place on June 9 at the Manchester Arena.

Fury once stood on top of the heavyweight division in 2015 when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko to win the unified WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight titles. The two were supposed to fight in a rematch in 2016, but injuries and Fury failing a drug test caused the rematch to be canceled.

In the aftermath of Fury's win over Klitschko, Fury was stripped of all three of his titles. Meanwhile Anthony Joshua, whom Fury has been trying to goad into accepting a fight, has since won all the titles Fury previously won. Joshua won the IBF title in 2016 with a win over Charles Martin, won the WBA title in 2017 when he defeated Klitschko and then won the WBO title last month when he defeated Joseph Parker.

Due to the aforementioned failed drug tests, Fury's boxing license was revoked. After a lengthy hearing process, Fury was issued a two-year suspension that was backdated to 2015 and was given his license back by the British Boxing Board of Control earlier this year, clearing all road blocks for Fury to make his in-ring return.
