Tony Ferguson Beats Donald Cerrone At UFC 238 In Controversial Fashion In People's Main Event

UFC 238 featured two big title fights on Saturday night, but much of the attention went to the "people's main event" of Tony Ferguson taking on Donald Cerrone. Unfortunately, it didn't get the resolution many wanted.

It's been a rollercoaster ride for Ferguson and Cerrone respectively over the last couple of years for far different reasons. Ferguson lost his interim UFC Lightweight Championship without ever losing a fight (other than to a television cable that tore his knee), while Donald Cerrone lost, then regained relevance near the top of UFC's card. Saturday, they both likely fought for the opportunity at the very disputed, yet technically undisputed UFC Lightweight Championship later this year.

Cerrone peppered Ferguson in the first round, likely on his way to winning the round. The tides turned heavily in the second, with Ferguson pouring it on and running away with the fight. However, there was controversy aplenty after.

In the moments after the bell to signify the end of the second round, Ferguson landed a punch to Cerrone's nose. Cerrone blew his nose, causing his eye to swell shut. An end was called to the bout, giving Ferguson a TKO win.

After the fight, Ferguson, who is likely in line for a title shot, seemed dejected and declared he didn't care who was next for him, and that he didn't want to win in that manner.
