UFC 244 Doctor Hit With Threats & Online Harassment

Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz battled in the main event of UFC 244, with Masvidal walking away victorious via third round TKO due to a doctor stoppage

Dr. Nitin K. Sethi was the doctor who stopped the bout and he has been bombarded with hate since making the bout ending call.

”I’m a very good neurologist and a very good doctor, and calling me f*cking scum online and calling my office staff and yelling at them, threatening me, I fear for my health and safety,” he told MMA Fighting. “Somebody’s going to get hurt, and it’s probably going to be me this time. People don’t realize what they do when they talk about these things. But that’s the hard reality of this sport.”

Sethi has worked for the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) many times in the past, working both UFC and Bellator MMA cards.

The doctor says that everybody who is involved in the sport of professional MMA should be hanging their heads in shame right now.

”It’s a shame that’s what it boils down to,” he said. “Anybody who’s involved in that sport should be hanging their head in shame when that happens. That’s not how sports are done. I’ve never experienced that, and I’ve been involved in a lot of sports.”

There is no word yet on when the UFC will return to New York or if Sr. Sethi is going to be cage side when that happens.
