UFC On Fox 23 Draws Low TV Ratings

MMA

This past weekend at UFC On Fox 23, Valentina Shevchenko defeated Julianna Pena via arm bar submission in the second round of their main event fight.

Unfortunately, UFC On Fox 23 drew the second lowest ratings for a live event on Fox, averaging 2,189,000 viewers on Saturday Night. The lowest rated UFC event on Fox thus far was UFC On Fox 21, which was headlined by Demian Maia and Carlos Condit, that event drew 1,983,000 viewers on average.

The main event itself, Valentina Shevchenko versus Julianna Pena, hit their highest mark at 3,003,000 viewers overall. This was also the first UFC On Fox event to end before the 10pm EST. end time, which may have hindered ratings as well, because ratings usually spike for a sporting event when it runs over the allotted amount of time.

The Fox Sports 1 preliminary card, which had Sam Alvey and Nate Marquardt in the featured spot, averaged 619,000 viewers. The pre-show, which aired on Fox Sports 1 had averaged 145,000 and the post-fight show, which aired on Fox Sports 2 had averaged 75,000 viewers.

Despite the low rating when compared to other UFC On Fox specials, was still the third most watched Sports event on January 28, only behind the Houston Rockets versus Philadelphia 76ers basketball game and the ESPN X Games.
