Stephen Thompson delivered a hard-fought unanimous decision vs. Geoff Neal at UFC Vegas 17, and he earned a rare finish-less bonus for his efforts.
Thompson was one of four fighters to earn an additional $50,000 on Saturday night; however, "Wonderboy" is the only member of the quartet to not finish their fight. The headliner is joined in good company by Rob Font, Marcin Tybura and Jimmy Flick.
Thompson swept Neal in a five-round striking affair. Font survived an early grappling exchange against Marlon Moraes and subsequently knocked him out on Saturday night. It took a tough first round for Tybura to get his bearings and TKO Greg Hardy. Flick is perhaps the most obvious performance award winner after his flying triangle finish of Cody Durden on the preliminary card.
No Fight of the Night bonus was awarded; instead, the traditional two Performance of the Night bonuses were doubled to four.
