UFC fighter Julija Stoliarenko faints twice at the UFC Vegas 22 weigh-in.
Stoliarenko was stretchered off after the second fainting spell and her fight with Julia Avila was subsequently scrapped from Saturday's card. The video footage immediately sparked conversations about weight-cutting practices in MMA.
Stoliarenko collapsed during her initial weigh-in attempt, crashing into the UFC banner behind her. She was helped to her feet and spent some time sitting on a chair before being permitted to weigh-in again. After weighing in, Stoliarenko tried to step off the scale and immediately lost her footing. She was held up by UFC officials; however, her legs crumpled as she briefly slipped into unconsciousness.
Avila confirmed the fight was off and wished her opponent a speedy recovery.
Speedy recovery fellow Julia. Your health comes first, hopefully we see each other at another date. Prayers sister. ---- https://t.co/hppjJ6IrkT
